The current age profile of the Central Coast reflects the region’s popularity with families with young children and older people.
Both Gosford (21.3%) and Wyong (21.6%) have a marginally higher
percentage of children aged 0 to 14 than New South Wales
(20.9%).
Across the Central Coast 21.9% of the population is aged 0 to 14
years.
Both Gosford (26.9%) and Wyong (27.2%) have a higher
percentage of people aged 55 years and over, than New South
Wales (22.5%).
Across the Central Coast 27% of the population is aged 55 years
and over.
In both Gosford and Wyong and across the Central Coast as a
whole, males account for 48% of the population while females
make up 52%
The male population decreases sharply in those aged 70 years and
over, where they account for 42%, compared with females who
account for 58% of this age group.
