Thanks for your help!

Thanks for all your assistance with promoting the Drug Media Survey. I am very happy to report that recruitment has gotten off to a flying start with 1500 young Australians having now completed the survey. We couldn't have done it without your support! This has definitely put the issue of drugs and media reporting onto the agenda - we've had over 35 newspapers and 7 radio stations talking about the study and over 100 agencies from around the country!

But we still want to hear from more young people because the more voices we have the more likely it is that government and media outlets will listen to our recommendations. As such, I am writing to you to see whether you can send a more detailed summary of the study and it's rationale out to your local inter-agency. We believe this is an important issue and that the more young Australians we hear from the better.

The survey can be accessed at: www.drugmediasurvey.com

If you are able to help out, I have included a summary of the study below.

We appreciate all of your help so far with promoting the study and hope that you will be able to further assist!

Kind regards,

Have your say!

At the Drug Policy Modelling Program we are conducting the first ever study in Australia into youth attitudes to media reporting on drugs. Over 1500 young people have already helped out with our Drug Media Survey but we want to hear from more of you.

Why is this important?

- Drugs are one of the most topical issues of media reporting.
- Drugs are also the number one concern for young Australians.
- Young people deserve a voice in how media report on drugs.

DPMP want to show the government and media outlets in Australia what young people think about media reporting on drugs. The more people we hear from, the more likely they are to listen.

So if you're aged 16-24 and live in Australia, we would love to hear from you! Please visit www.drugmediasurvey.com to take our 10-20 minute online survey for your chance to WIN one of 10 $200 music vouchers!

If you've already done it or are not aged between 16 and 24 it would be great if you could pass this message onto other friends or contacts in this age group. The more participants we get, the more your voice will count.

This study is being conducted by DPMP and is commissioned by the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing. This is a study about media reporting so you
don't need to have tried drugs to participate.
