Siblings Project

The project involves networking for young people ages 12 to 18 from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) backgrounds that have a brother or sister with a disability. The project provides training and support to develop digital multimedia and website skills. The CALD Sibling Support Network is a project of Multicultural Disability Advocacy Association (MDAA) and funded by Ageing Disability Home Care (ADHC).

This year, the project focused on young people living in Sydney Metro and Western Sydney and also provided the opportunity for previous participants to continue to develop their digital imaging skills. We believe that disabilities, illness, and mental health issues affect the lives of all family members. Consequently, we want to increase the peer support and information opportunities for brothers and sisters of people with special needs and to increase parents and providers understanding of sibling issues.

This program of activities will run within 6 months engaging a group of young siblings. The CALD Sibling Support Network Project will undertake an arts project in, building digital media skills to provide support for young siblings with the opportunity to express their experiences by hosting workshops through animation, editing, photography, filmmaking and online video for young siblings with a disability in a CALD family and environment, and providing opportunities to develop the tools and resources to share and obtain further health and other information in the form of an online blog.

I would like to ask if you can put this project on your get involved website or newsletter as at the moment I'm looking for participants.
