FREE AustCycle training courses!

6th September 2010
Dear Central Coast community member

Want to reduce your waistline? Want to improve your health? Want to get more active? Then try cycling.

If you've got a bike, want to ride, but lack a bit of competence or confidence -it's time to 'get back on your bike'!

Northern Sydney Central Coast Area Health Service, with the support of the Australian Better Health Initiative ‐ Measure Up campaign and the NSW Department of Environment & Climate Change, are offering limited places in FREE cycling training courses to help improve your knowledge and skills.

The courses are delivered by an accredited AustCycle Teacher and are pitched at a beginner - intermediate level. Course content covers bike safety principles, bike handling skills, road safety skills, traffic awareness, basic bike maintenance and repair. Riders participate in a range of cycling skill sessions in an off‐road environment, to enable participants to ride on‐road. Towards the end of the course, participants may be offered the opportunity to experience a guided ride on quiet roads.

The courses will be held at the Central Coast Lifetime Learning Centre/CARES (Community and Road Education Scheme) facility, at Palmdale.

All course participants receive a FREE healthy lifestyle pack full of goodies including: 'How do you measure up?' tape measure and information booklet, Healthy Food Fast cook book, Get Healthy Information & Coaching Service brochure and towel...plus some cycling gear!

What are you waiting for? Come on, register for a course and 'get back on your bike'! More people, riding more safely and more often will go a long way towards a healthier, happier community and a cleaner environment.

To register for a course, call the Central Coast Health Promotion Service on 43494800. For more information regarding the cycling training courses, refer to the attached Frequently Asked Questions &/or Measure Up 4 Cycling flyer.

Alternatively, contact Nigel Tebb on 43494826 or Jeff Smith on 43494817.
