Co-operative Legal Services Delivery Update

There are a few things that I want to let you guys know about today:

1) PENINSULA LINKS DAY - THURSDAY 17TH MAY

The Peninsula Links Day will be running again in 2012! This is a great opportunity for many of you to get out there an engage with the community and the people who are disadvantaged and who could really benefit from being aware that our services are out there.

The details are as follows:
17th May
Peninsula Leisure Centre

There has been an idea to have several CLSD partners band together to host a stall? Let me know what you guys think about this because I am sure that a few of you will have a stall for your own services already planned. This is unfortunately a day that I work at my other job, so I may not be able to attend for the entire day, perhaps only for the morning / set up so if there is to be a combined CLSD stall, its not something that I personally can man the whole time of the day - so we're going to have to work together to get it all up and running! Let me know!

If you wish to book a stall (places are limited and there is likely to be a significant demand for places) or have any other questions about the day - please contact: Rory Sullivan (02) 4342 6527

2) CLSD E-UPDATE

Please find attached to this email the latest CLSD e-update. While all of the info in it is good - I just wanted to point out a few things that jumped out at me as I had a read this morning.

a) LAWACCESS - now covering boundary and fencing issues with its online services.
For all of you that attended the November CLSD regional meeting, we were given a run down of the extensive information that is available online through this wonderful service. I know boundary issues are something that come up at the Legal Centre quite a bit, so its good to have
this additional resource to assist clients.

b) WORK AND DEVELOPMENT ORDERS: There is considerable information about work and development orders in the CLSD. This is an avenue that may be pertinent to some of our clients - so make sure you have a read of this stuff.

c) ALS NEW WEBSITE: The Aboriginal Legal Service has a new and re vamped website with extensively more information now available online. If you are a service that deals with many Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander People have a look to see whats new!

3) CLSD REGIONAL MEETING - UPCOMING

The next regional meeting for us is on the 14TH MARCH 2012, IN GOSFORD COURT HOUSE'S JURY POOL ROOM.
Some of you are already aware, but for those who do not know, the CLSD program is currently under evaluation and there will be an independent evaluator at this meeting assessing how the program runs. It would be really really nice to have a large turn out at this meeting in particular!
Big Thanks to those partners who have already agreed to be interviewed by this lady as well.

4) OLDER PERSONS LEGAL DIARY

Head office LegalAid has exhausted their supply of this resource, however, I have quite a few that I am able to distribute to partners. If you would like any, please contact me. I will be bringing a few to the next regional meeting in the interest of wanting to avoid freight / postage costs.

Regards,
