A need for affordable training for small community organisations (not-for-profit) was identified by CCCC as the training being provided was often not appropriate, too expensive or not available locally.

To fill the obvious gap in the sector, funding was sought and obtained in 2001 through a grant from the Area Assistance Scheme to provide training for local non-government services, management committees and volunteers. The grant was for 4 years and the project was expected to become self sustainable after the 4 year funding period.
Target groups are Central Coast community workers, Volunteers and Management Committee members from not-for –profit organisations.

To provide the affordable training partnerships were formed with:

  • The Home and Community Care (HACC) Training Project
  • St John Ambulance
  • Tuggerah Lakes Community College
  • CC Community College
  • CC Voluntary Treasurer’s Support Service
  • CC Multicultural Project

In 2004, due to insufficient resources of the CCCC, the project was transferred to Volunteering Central Coast. Subsidised training is no longer available.

The project is a very valuable resource to the community sector and the feedback received has been very positive, however, with sustainability being a major issue, Volunteering Central Coast plan to implement strategies that will allow the project to continue into the future.
